The Pelican Nebula (IC 5067 & IC5070)

Description

So named due to it's likeness to a Pelican, lying at a mere distance of 1800 light years from Earth is a HII region in close photographic proximity to The North American Nebula which can be seen here in one of my earlier images.

This black and white image is unusual in as much it is photographed in only RED light not luminance or H-Alpha as I and other imagers would normally publish. The reason I did this is because the QHY23 Mono CCD is extremely sensitive to H-Alpha which using standard broadband filters can be best seen in Red. In my opinion it makes for a very interesting image. I will be posting H-Alpha, H-Alpha and Red Combined along with color shortly.

Total Exposure 30 minutes.
